We are always honoured to have local artist Michael Walker as our official Kingston Sheep Dog Trails artist – this year – his 27th year – is no exception. We are unique in the fact that the dog that wins the trial appears in the next years artwork, and the original oil pointing, is given to the trial winner and also appears on the souvenir T-Shirt available to the public.
Michael is a full time artist living in the Kingston area that has a Masters in Art History from Queen’s and has studied fine art at the Art Student’s League in New York City. He has exhibited all over Canada and the United States and has won awards in exhibitions in Toronto, Chicago and New York, to name a few. His work is in collections across North America and Europe, including the Ford Theatre in New York City and Queen’s University here in Kingston. While a serious portrait and still’s artist he enjoys taking artistic license in producing the artwork used at the trial using various components to complete the masterpiece.
