Kingston K9 & Mounted Police

Learn about the world of policing at the Kingston Police Mobile Engagement Trailer (MET). The MET will be on site for the majority of the festival and open to visitors. The MET has multiple youth engagement platforms that the Kingston Police can utilize anywhere in the community.

Keep your eyes open for Constable Sarah Groenewegen of the Kingston Police Mounted Police Unit who will be accompanied by her horse. Don’t be shy to approach them! Sarah and her horse are always happy to meet people while out and about in the community.

Police K-9 Unit: A spectator favourite, we welcome back Constables Jeff Dickson and Mark McCreary along with their K9 partners Zeus and Titan, all members of the Kingston Police K9 Unit. This demo will highlight obedience, protection, detection work and criminal apprehension skills. The primary task of the Canine Unit - tracking amounts to about 70% of their calls. The remainders of calls are for detection work for drugs or firearms.

K-9 Unit shows are daily at 11 a.m. There is only one show a day, so don’t miss it!

Please note: this demonstration is subject to cancellation, in the event that they are called out on an active case.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Kingston Police for their ongoing support of the festival.
